The Pennsylvania State Police have released several reminders for the public regarding bicycle laws.
Authorities say that bicycles generally should be ridden on the right side of the road going with the flow of traffic, expect in situations where there are unsafe surface conditions.
Bicyclists are also reminded to use hand signals to indicate turns and to obey traffic control signals. Officials say that hand and arm signals indicating turns should be given from the left side of the bike with the left arm.
Lastly, police also encourage all bicyclists to wear a helmet when riding, however, those aged 12 and younger are required to regardless of whether they are operating a bike or riding as a passenger.
Police say that violators are subject to citations.
