A local municipality is considering offering tax credits to encourage volunteer firefighter participation.
Last week, Cranberry Township’s Board of Supervisors voted to advertise a proposal that would provide a $250 annual credit toward a volunteer’s municipal earned income tax. Participants would need to meet other qualifications in order to be eligible for the credit.
The board will consider acting on the proposal at their next meeting on Oct. 26.
A bill signed by Governor Wolf last fall allows townships to grant tax credits for active fire and EMS volunteers.
