A northern Butler County company is looking for truck drivers who can make the trip out west to deliver donated hay to ranchers affected by large wildfires.
Altmire Trucking of Eau Claire has collected enough hay to fill at least 10 truckloads for victims in Montana but now they need more trucks.
They are looking for owner-operators of flatbed, step-deck trucks. The convoy of trucks will leave Butler County on Saturday, Sept. 23.
Monetary donations are also welcome to help assist with the drivers’ fuel costs. A nonprofit has been set up through the Farmer’s National Bank in Eau Claire.
Residents in several Midwest states including Montana and South Dakota have been dealing with devastating wildfires for months. Over one million acres of land has burned in Montana so far this year.
Anyone who has a tractor trailer and wants to help can contact Altmire Trucking at 724-791-2200.
