Fiat Chrysler announced the recall of nearly half a million Dodge Ram trucks because they could overheat and catch fire.
The company said the affected trucks include model year 2013-17 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups; and 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs.
According to Fiat Chrysler, customer-feedback prompted an investigation that discovered certain trucks are equipped with a water-pump bearing that could overheat. The company says they are unaware of any related injuries or accidents. New trucks are no longer using the same type of water pump.
Those who own the trucks will be notified when repairs are available. In the meantime, the company advises drivers to look out for a warning light that may activate when something is starting to go wrong.
Those who have questions or concerns may call the FCA US Recall Information Center at (800)-853-1403.
