Harmony is gearing up for its annual family oriented New Year’s Eve celebration.
Activities of the German-themed Silvester will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday and culminate with a ball drop and fireworks at Main and Mercer Streets. What makes this event different than most is that the ‘New Year’ will be celebrated on German time- meaning 6 p.m. in Eastern Standard Time.
Thousands are expected in Harmony to celebrate Silvester and enjoy activities including races, museum tours, a comedic short film and a Christmas tree throwing contest. Dinner and other refreshments will also be available as those attending browse Harmony’s specialty shops.
The event is free but there are some costs associated with certain activities. Proceeds from those costs support the Harmony Museum and Harmony’s parks.
