There’s still time to register for a free event coming up this week for seniors or those with seniors in their family.
The Butler County Area Agency on Aging is sponsoring ‘Preparedness Awareness’ – an interactive training to assist seniors, individuals with disabilities, their assistants, family and friends to prepare for emergencies.
The event is set for Tuesday, March 20 from 10am to 2pm at the Butler Family YMCA on North Washington Street in Butler.
“The program is going to feature a vendor fair from different organizations that offer services to seniors and individuals with disabilities and a bunch of free giveaways. If you’re interested in attending that all you have to do is show up,” Brittany Buzzelli, the community outreach coordinator for the Butler County Area Agency on Aging, said in an interview.
This interactive program is designed to assist with emergency preparedness through several seminars featuring training by the American Red Cross. According to Buzzelli, this presentation is valuable for caregivers and seniors or those dealing with disability.
“It’s definitely good for caregivers to hear this information because they’re the ones that might have to put this plan in place for the individual,” she said.
There will be three different seminars are part of the event.
-‘Senior For Senior’ preparedness workshop: Begins at 10:30 a.m.
-‘Feeling Safe, Being Safe’: Begins at 11:30 a.m.
-‘Be Red Cross Ready’: Begins at 1 p.m.
