Over 120 people showed up in South Butler on Wednesday night at a rally in support of teachers.
Ian Babb- President of the South Butler Teachers Association- thanked the crowd, which included members of other district’s teachers unions.
“It shows that there’s members of our community that understand that a high quality education is the bedrock of our community,” Babb said Wednesday.
Babb says he’s hopeful the teachers and the school board can come to an agreement soon.
“Anytime we have the opportunity to meet with the district to talk about the issues at hand, we have the ability to come to a compromise and reach a settlement,” he said. “It would be easy for me to be disheartened by all we’ve gone through and the heartbreaking work stoppage we’re going through now, but I choose to be positive.”
The two sides will meet for a negotiation session on Monday night, which is the first time since the teachers strike began one week ago.
