Several hundred thousand teachers in Pennsylvania are receiving letters offering free credit monitoring after their personal information was allegedly publicly released last month.
WPXI-TV is reporting the personal info, including names and social security numbers, of more than 300,000 teachers was released due to a “human error.”
Some teachers have reportedly received letters stating the state education department has contracted with a company to offer 12 months of credit monitoring, a $1 million insurance reimbursement policy and identity theft recovery.
It’s unclear if any local teachers have been affected.
