Police have filed charges against a Butler man accused of driving drunk, crashing and killing a Saxonburg woman.
Aaron Burd, 39, was charged Thursday with 19 offenses, including vehicular homicide. The crash happened last summer in Slippery Rock and killed 26-year-old Tanya Tyson.
According to court documents, Burd was more than two-and-a-half times the state’s legal limit for alcohol and had cocaine in his system when he crashed a roadster kit car on Slippery Rock Road. Tyson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several witnesses told police they saw Burd driving erratically just moments before the crash. Blood tests proved he was under the influence, police say.
Burd has been released from jail on bail. He was ordered to wear an alcohol-detecting ankle bracelet. He’s due back in court in May.
