There’s still time for local kids to sign up to participate in a free program to learn more about the activity of creek fishing later this week.
Christopher Parker is one of the leaders of this program, which is taking place at Intersection Community Church.
“Growing up I spent a lot of time at the creek and now I want to give back,” Parker said in an interview.
This fishing program will be held on Friday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event will also include a free lunch. Volunteers will lead five or six different stations to teach different aspects of creek fishing. Some participants could receive a free fishing pole or tackle box.
According to Christopher’s mother Cindy, it is important to educate kids engaging in this activity about the proper way to safely fish in a creek.
“Just kind of get them educated on the right tools to use…the right bait. Just reach out to them and hopefully give them some new things to be excited about,” she said.
Anyone who is interested in participating is asked to register online through the Intersection Church website or Facebook page.
