Local gas prices are continuing to hover near the $3/gallon mark.
The average price for a gallon of self-serve gas in Butler is $2.89, according to AAA East Central’s weekly gas price report. That’s up a cent from last week.
During this week last year, drivers were paying about 30 cents less.
Nearly half (12) of the 25 states in the country selling gas for $2.60 or more are Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states, with Pennsylvania ($2.87) once again landing amongst the top ten list of the most expensive.
Jumping 1 million barrels, gasoline inventories are at 57.4 million barrels, according to the latest EIA (Energy Information Administration) data. Despite carrying the third highest inventory of all the regions, the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast totals are 8.5 million barrels behind this time last year.
