Butler High School dealt with yet another threat this week.
According to Butler Township Police, a 15-year-old boy was arrested and is now facing juvenile charges after allegedly writing a false bomb threat inside a restroom at the Butler Intermediate High School on Wednesday afternoon. Officers were able to quickly determine the threat was not credible.
In an email to parents on Thursday, Superintendent Brian White called the threat an “inappropriate message.” He reiterated the district takes all threats seriously and that the individual responsible in this latest case was identified and will be punished appropriately under the student code of conduct and Pennsylvania State Law. White said the district will also seek restitution for additional costs to both the school and law enforcement as a result of the threat.
“We are fortunate to have school police officers at each school. In addition, we have many safety measures in place and will constantly strive to improve our school security,” White said in the email.
He also pointed to Butler County District Attorney Rich Goldinger’s latest ‘zero tolerance policy’ for school threats.
