Butler Township will look into the availability of state funding to help pay for what officials are calling “necessary, unplanned” road and drainage repairs.
Due to recent rains and saturated soil conditions, the Butler Township Road Department- along with Gateway Engineers- investigated areas that have been damaged. Officials presented plans and cost estimates to fix the problems at the Butler Township commissioners meeting on Monday.
Officials said the top priority on the list is the landslide that has occurred on Evans Road, which has impacted the pavement and resulted in a partial closure. Given the risk of future loss, four options were presented to the commissioners ranging in cost from just over $100,000 to nearly $280,000.
Other areas of high concern include the Ski Slope Culvert and the Evans Road Storm Sewers.
The board directed the township administrators to check with the state. Manager Ed Kirkwood said he would call the governor’s office to see if any relief is available for repairs, that in total could run over $656,000.
