Broad Street School in the City of Butler is currently vacant and according to the Butler Area School District superintendent, there are no immediate plans for the facility.
When asked for the latest information about the consolidated school during a school board meeting on Monday, Dr. Brian White said it is not being actively marketed for sale at this time.
After Broad Street Elementary was closed in 2015 along with three other elementary schools during a district-wide consolidation, the school board attempted to sell the property. The property was nearly sold to The ARC of Butler County before Butler City Council voted against granting a rezoning request made by the non-profit organization.
Most recently, Broad Street School was home to students from Summit Township Elementary for nearly a year in 2017 while issues were being addressed with elevated levels of lead found in well water. Summit School welcomed students back in January.
