There’s a new person leading the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
The Board of Governors chose Dr. Daniel Greenstein to serve as Chancellor of the agency that oversees the 14 state-owned universities.
Greenstein currently serves as a director at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, signaling the need for a new direction, according to State System spokesman Kenn Marshall.
“He has a wide range of experience, but he’s not what I think a lot of people would consider a traditional candidate for the position,” Marshall said. “But he’s certainly an innovative leader. He understands the need for change in the higher education environment today.”
Greenstein becomes the State System’s 6th Chancellor, succeeding Frank Brogan who stepped down fall.
Slippery Rock University in Butler County is one of the state’s 14 owned universities.
