The City of Butler will make arrangements to repay a large amount of money given by a business in error.
Vogel Disposal Service recently informed the city that they had overpaid for administration fees by about $85,000 over the past four years.
As part of the contract with the city, Vogel turns in a percentage of receipts collected from residential customers to offset city expenses, but due to a bookkeeping error, the company also gave the city a cut of commercial receipts.
The city acknowledges that an overpayment was made and Vogel is willing to discuss terms of repayment, which will likely take place over time.
