Some Butler Area School District elementary students have been trained on what a seizure is and what to do if a classmate has one.
The staff and students at Connoquenessing Elementary partnered with the Epilepsy Foundation and became designated as a Seizure Smart School.
The teachers were trained at the beginning of the school year to recognize the signs and symptoms of a seizure and what to do if they witness one. And then last month, all students in kindergarten through 4th grade learned about epilepsy and how to be a “good friend” if a fellow classmate around them is experiencing a seizure.
