Do you really understand how the government works?
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf plans to sign a new law requiring students to take a civics test.
It’s the same type of test given to immigrants who want to become U.S. citizens.
State Rep. Chris Sainato, a democrat from Lawrence County, believes this move will help promote healthy citizenship.
“This starts the conversation about government, civics and will hopefully lead to having a more educated electorate that understands how government works, because that’s so very vital to our democracy,” he said.
The test would be given to students between grades 7 and 12.
