You have three local opportunities to give blood over the next couple weeks and help the American Red Cross prevent a blood shortage.
Grace Church of Harmony will host a blood drive on Wednesday, June 13 from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. A second opportunity will take place on June 22 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Chicora Road. Also, St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler is hosting a drive on June 26.
A new campaign to recruit donors will spotlight the missing letters of A, B and O, which represent how these major blood types are missing from hospitals. Donating blood is a simple process that only takes about an hour from start to finish but that time can be reduced even further by completion of a RapidPass the day of donation on the Red Cross website.
Those interested or able to donate are asked to make an appointment by downloading the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
