A class for people interested in learning about how to safely prepare food for large groups will be held later this week in Meridian.
Penn State Extension is offering the Cooking for Crowds workshop on Thursday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Fidelis Catholic Church.
Those attending will be able to learn the latest methods for safely handling food. Non-profit, volunteer-run groups that prepare food to sell or serve to the public need to be sure they do everything possible to avoid foodborne illness.
The cost to participate is $25 per person or $50 for up to four participants from the same organization and an additional $5 per additional participant in that same group. Pre-registration is required. Register online at the Penn State Extension website or call 1-877-345-0691.
