The Butler School District is using the summer to make additional security updates to its Intermediate and Senior High School buildings.
Superintendent Brian White says new fencing will essentially close off the Senior High School campus. Students will not be allowed to go back to their vehicles during the school day. All visitors will have to buzz in at a new secure entrance before being allowed into the Sr. High.
Eighty new cameras are being installed at the Intermediate High School.
All of the district’s 20 police officers- which are all retired state troopers and all part of the district’s new municipal police force- will have an updated police radio to aid communication.
The district is also planning a “large-scale” safety training for next school year and each school will have a safety drill at the start of the year in August.
