A new legislative session means a new effort to reform property taxes in Pennsylvania.
Senate Republicans are expected to reintroduce Senate Bill 76, which would eliminate local property taxes and replace the lost revenue with a combination of higher sales and personal income taxes.
Senator David Argall (from eastern PA) is Chairman of the Majority Policy Committee and a prime sponsor of the measure.
Argall says there needs to be another way to fund public schools in Pennsylvania.
“The way it is funded now is so unfair and so outdated,” Argall said.
The bill failed to make it out of the Senate in the last session.
