A bill being introduced in the state House would allow eligible Pennsylvanians to register and vote on Election Day.
Under current law, the registration deadline is 30 days before an election.
State Rep. Ryan Bizzaro of Erie is sponsoring the bill. He simply says it would make things easier.
“I think it’s important for Pennsylvanians to have every toll necessary to get out and vote,” he said. “We should not be hindering peoples’ vote…we should be encouraging voter participation.”
The voter would have to present a valid ID when he or she shows up at the polls. The vote would count once the information is verified by the Department of State.
