The flu is still being considered widespread in Pennsylvania.
In Butler County, there have been 126 confirmed cases of the flu, according to data which ran through Jan. 26. Statewide, there have been nearly 20,000 laboratory-confirmed flu cases this season.
Pennsylvania health officials have confirmed the first child flu-related death of this year’s flu season. The child’s name and age have not been released. There have been 25 adult flu-related deaths so far, an increase of 10 from its report two weeks ago.
The health department says the southeast and northwest regions of the state continue to be the hardest hit this year by the flu.
