The Butler City Police Department will be getting two more new vehicles in the near future.
Butler City Council has approved the purchase of two 2019 Ford Interceptor Sedans for just over $52,000 from Tri-Star Motors.
Those vehicles are currently at IbisTek, where the city will pay just over $20,000 for the vehicles to be upfitted for police use.
It is anticipated that those vehicles will be ready for use by the department by April. Along with the three other police vehicles purchased last year, Chief Bob O’Neill believes the department is very nearly set.
The one exception is another K9 vehicle needed for when the department receives two new dogs later this year. The money for that vehicle will come from the department’s K9 fund which continues to accept donations.

Butler City Council has approved the sale of a couple surplus vehicles.
The city will sell a 2013 Chevrolet Impala to Marshall Offstein for $400.
The city will sell a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria to Beau Sneddon for $311.
As a result of a tie in bids received for a 2006 Ford Explorer, all bids will be rejected and this vehicle will again be advertised for sale.
