A 35-year-old married mother of six- who is also a full-time Butler County Community student- is the only person in Pennsylvania to be awarded a scholarship from an international academic honor society.
Vanessa Eberle re-enrolled at BC3 in January 2018 after briefly attending college following her high school graduation in 2001. Now, she and her husband, both plan to graduate this May with associate degrees.
Eberle wrote a winning essay titled “Finish What I Started” and stressed the importance of completing an associate’s degree. She will be awarded a $500 scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa’s Middle States Region.
The Eberles are among the 10 percent of BC3 students who were 35 years old or older, as of the fall 2018 semester.
