West Penn Power is still working to restore service to about 100 Butler County residents.
Early Friday, about 80 Middlesex Township residents were in the dark; along with about 25 residents of Slippery Rock Township. Several other municipalities continue to have a handful of residents without power- including Buffalo, Butler, Clay, Jefferson, Penn, Summit and Winfield townships.
“Our crews continue 24/7 efforts to restore about 2,000 customers who remain out of service due to the wind storm,” West Penn tweeted on Thursday. “The majority of remaining customers will be restored by Thursday. On Wednesday alone, crews set about 50 poles and repaired about 800 spans of wire. As the restoration effort winds down, our crews will be addressing many localized issues and restoring individual customers, including setting 88 poles and repairing nearly 900 spans of wire. This requires crews to travel to each individual location. Additionally, repairing individual service lines is often the most time-consuming, labor intensive and complex part of service restoration. This work will continue on Friday and Saturday. We thank our customers for their support of our crews, and for their patience and understanding throughout the restoration process.”
West Penn hopes to have the majority of service restored to Butler County residents by Friday evening.
