Doris E. Seth, 93, of Butler passed away at her residence on March 4, 2019. She was born in Killbuck Ohio on June 10, 1925 to the late Ernest and Ella (Linder) Winkleman. She moved to Butler at the age of seven, graduating from Butler High School and then meeting her late husband Harry C. Seth Jr., whom she married on August 10, 1945. Doris worked at the ARMCO Wheelworks office during WWII from 1943 to 1945, then working at Montgomery Wards for 18 years managing the children’s department. She and her husband also ran the RC Preflight shop in Butler for ten years.
Mrs. Seth was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, bowled frequently in Sunrise and Spices bowling league and won a silver medal in the Shippensburg Senior Olympics for Basketball. She also was an adult literacy teacher for many years. Later in life, Doris also went on several mission trips, two to Mexico, one to New Orleans to aid Katrina Victims, and one to Mississippi to help build a home for a displaced family after Katrina. She also volunteered at Katie’s Kitchen and Produce for people in Butler.
Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband Harry C. Seth Jr., on March 25, 1996, three sisters Erika Rivers, Ruth Logan, Herta Worsley and several nephews.
Doris is survived by four sons, Barry J. Seth of Worthington; Gordon L. (Peggy) Seth of Aurora CO; Dennis J. Seth of Jefferson Ohio; Eric L. (Nora) Seth of Julian PA; two daughters Anita L. (Joseph) Negley of Butler; Pamela E. (Scott) Covert of Grove City; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Doris’s life a memorial service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the St. Luke Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot PA 16023 with Pastor Barry KIeurulainen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Doris requests memorial donations be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot PA 16023, or the Butler Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew PA 16053.
Doris’s children and family would like to extend appreciation to Dr. Chatta and her staff, Allegheny General Visiting Nurses, Allegheny General Hospice Group for all their compassion and care throughout her illness. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Pastor Barry, Pastor Ben, and Vicar Bocian for their visits, love, support and prayers.
