Twelve municipalities in Butler County will receive grant money from the county to complete an upcoming project.
The recipients of the 2019 Butler County Local Park Renovation grant program have been revealed and include Buffalo, Clay, Cranberry, Lancaster, Marion, Slippery Rock, Summit and Worth townships, and Connoquenessing, Harrisville, Petrolia and Zelienople boroughs.
In total, the county will disperse $120,000. The communities will use the money to complete projects including new playground equipment, putting a bathroom and trash receptacles inside a park, and a new roof on a pavilion.
Butler County Parks Director Lance Welliver said the grant program has been in existence since the mid-90s and has helped municipalities with over $1 million in funding.
“It’s great to see all these projects being funded,” Butler County Commissioner Kim Geyer said during a meeting last week.
