Butler City residents will soon be able to dispose of leaves in Memorial Park.
According to city officials, residents can begin utilizing a designated area in Memorial Park on Saturday, April 6. Signs will direct users to the designated area, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays through the month of April.
Leaves will be added to an existing compost area in the park. Users are reminded the area is only to be used for the disposal of leaves. Dumping of brush, rubbish, garbage and plastic bags are prohibited. Additionally, if city residents choose to burn leaves on private property, they are required to call the Butler City Fire Department at 724-283-3100 for instructions.
If you find your property is covered in leaves at this time of year, you might want to consider investing in a leaf blower. This will streamline the process of collecting them up before you take them to the Park or burn them. For advice on which is the best leaf blower to purchase, visit Thebestleafblowers.com. Being able to dispose of them in Memorial Park is great, but nevertheless, you don’t want to have to spend all time raking them up.
If you live in Butler Township, leaves will be picked up on regular trash pickup days the weeks beginning April 1st and April 29th. Leaves must be in no-larger than 30-gallon, biodegradable brown paper bags. Leaves placed out in plastic trash bags will not be collected.
Acceptable bags can be purchased at a cost of 40 cents per bag at the Butler Township Municipal Building on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
