The Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen let another game escape last night in a 5-4 loss in 10-innings to St. Louis last night at PNC Park. Pirates starting pitcher Jameson Taillon left the game with a 3-1 lead after seven innings. His only blemish was allowing a solo home run in the seventh inning. Reliever Keone Kela allowed two runs in the eighth. Nick Burdi allowed the game-winning runs in the 10th.
The Pirates stranded 11 runners in the game. Adam Frazier had three hits for the Bucs. Jung Ho Kang hit his first home run of the season.
The Pirates begin a four-game series with Cincinnati tonight. First pitch is 7:05pm. Jordan Lyles will make his debut for the Bucs, who are off to a 1-3 start. The Reds are 1-4. Their only victory was their home opener against the Pirates. Milwaukee defeated Cincinnati 1-0 yesterday.
The Pirates were without left-fielder Corey Dickerson last night, who was a late scratch because of shoulder soreness.
