High School Sports:
Track and Field:
–The Butler Girl’s Track & Field team defeated North Allegheny Tuesday night at NA by a score of 92-58. It was a big WPIAL Class AAA, Section-3 victory for the girls as the moved to 4-0 in the section. Butler was led by Liz Simms, Gabby Boden, Hurdlers Anna Baxter and Tabby Wilbert, Emma Stewart. Samantha Penrod and Sarayne Forbes.
(Liz Simms won the 400 and 800 and was part of the winning 3200 Relay and 1600 Relay. Gabby Boden won the 200 and was part of the winning 400 Relay and 1600 Relay. Tabby Wilbert and Anna Baxter went 1-2 in the 100 Hurdles and Baxter won the 300 Hurdles. Emma Stewart won the Long Jump, was part of the winning 400 Relay and had a personal best time for second in the 100 meters. Samantha Penrod won the Pole Vault and Sarayane Forbes led a big sweep on the discus along with Paris Johnson and Andrea Jones. Johnson won the shot put.
Autumn Pettinato continued her great season in the Javelin with a win. )
–The Butler Boys lost a tough battle with North Allegheny 80-70. A dropped baton in the meet-ending 4×400 relay cost Butler the chance to tie the meet at 75-75, and the Golden Tornado held the tie-breaker. Ryan Marcella led Butler with wins in the 100, 200 and anchored the winning 4×100 to victory. Mason Montag won the Javelin and High Jump. Dennis Goodwine won the Shot Put. Tyler Kennedy won the Long Jump and Tyler Rekich won the Triple Jump.
The Butler teams will compete in the Tri-State Track Coaches Association meet Saturday at West Mifflin. An event that will feature approximately 40 teams.
–Hampton swept Knoch. The Hampton Boys won 85-56. The Hampton Girls won 89-52.
