A new agreement between the City of Butler and Butler Downtown will allow the local organization to continue to operate the Butler Farmers’ Market.
During a meeting Tuesday, city council first voted to terminate the agreement currently in place with Butler Downtown in order to approve a new agreement that will allow the organization to operate the Farmers’ Market on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. between May 11 and October 26 of 2019.
The main change to the previous agreement is now Butler Downtown will pay the city for the cost of water used at the market. The city will continue to pay other expenses, including electricity and portable restrooms.
The City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds, and Facilities Authority had expressed interest in taking over operations of the Farmers’ Market but could still be involved with using the facility for public events and activities.
