High School Sports:
Track and Field:
–The Seneca Valley Track & Field teams swept Butler Tuesday in their final section matches. Butler’s Jack Codispot broke the Butler all-time record in the Pole Vault by clearing 15-feet 6-inches. Codispot breaks the record held for the past 20 years by Jared Farabee.
–Other first place finishes on the track came from Ryan Marcella winning the 100 Meters and Byron Manchester winner the 110 Hurdles.
!st place finishes in the field events came from Sami Taoufik in the High Jump, Dennis Goodwine in the Shot and Jake Pomykata in the Discus.
The boys return to action tomorrow (Thursday) in the Butler Sophomore Invitational starting at 3:30.
–The Seneca Valley Girls Track & Field defeated Butler 86-64 Tuesday, to claim a share of the Class Triple-A Section-3 title with Butler and North Allegheny. Each ended the regular season 5-1.
The Playoffs begin next Tuesday. Playoff seedings will be announced Thursday.
–Anna Baxter had a great meet while winning the 300 Hurdles, a second place finish in the 100 hurdles and was a part of the winning 4×400 relay team with Chesna Tomko, Taylor Timmons and Gabby Boden. Other first place finishes included Sarayne Forbes in the Discus, Autumn Pettinato in the Javelin, Lucy Link in the Triple Jump and Ali Altman in the High Jump
