A team of researchers at the University of Pittsburgh have created a breathalyzer that can measure the amount of THC in your system.
This comes as more states legalize both medical and recreational marijuana, leading concerns that users will be driving under the influence.
According to our news partners at WPXI-TV, it took three years for the Pitt researchers to develop a handheld model that could be used by police in the field. It’s not available yet, but the researchers do have a patent for the device.
Medical marijuana is legal in Pennsylvania and more than 100,000 people have marijuana cards. Currently, police can test your breath for alcohol, but need a blood or urine sample to test for marijuana.
