As we hit Friday, the grind of the work week may be getting to you.
But getting behind the wheel when you’re tired can be a very dangerous move according to findings from AAA.
Research from the travel agency estimates that 16 to 21 percent of police-reported fatal crashes likely involved drowsy driving.
AAA also says a new study shows that many drivers underestimate how tired they actually are.
They say 75 percent of drivers that rated their drowsy levels as “low,” were actually in the moderate to severe level. Even 25 percent that closed their eyes for 15 seconds or longer while driving said they weren’t that tired.
AAA says that if you are having trouble keeping your eyes open while driving, that’s a good sign you need to pull over and rest.
