Gas prices in western Pennsylvania continue to sink lower as many motorists take to the road for summer travel.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler is $2.89 per gallon. That’s nine cents cheaper per gallon than last week.
As for western Pennsylvania as a whole, prices are about three cents cheaper this week averaging $3.00 per gallon. The cheapest gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $2.75 per gallon, while the most expensive is $3.13 in Kittanning.
Tuesday’s national average of $2.81 is 13 cents cheaper than one year ago. The lower cost of gasoline is mostly attributed to the declining price of crude oil amid growing fears of a global trade war.
