Gas prices have once again dropped slightly locally but inched up across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, declined by a penny over the past week to reach $3.99 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by three cents during that same time to arrive at $4.04. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.78, while the most expensive is $4.17 in Mercer.
The average national gas price decreased by three cents over the past week to reach $3.77 which is 13 cents less than a month ago but still 36 cents more than a year ago. Although demand for gas jumped and the cost of oil increased as a result of a recent weakening of the dollar, domestic commercial crude stocks also rose fueling economic concerns.
