A new study reveals that the American public might not be ready for the autonomous car industry just yet.
The billion dollar industry has a significant presence in Pittsburgh, however AAA reports only 14 percent of drivers say they would trust riding in a vehicle that drives itself.
A majority of drivers in the study instead say they want current vehicle safety systems to improve. 80 percent of drivers believe things like automatic braking, blind spot warning, or lane assistance has room to improve.
AAA says that while autonomous cars are most likely years away, drivers may see them being tested on public streets more often as the technology develops.
