AAA says that preparation is very important for maintaining a home during inclement weather.

- Removing hoses from exterior faucets.
- Use caulk or insulation to seal cracks.
- Let faucets drip to prevent freezing pipes.
- Keep bathroom and kitchen cabinet doors open to let warm air circulate around the pipes.
- Wrap vulnerable pipes with insulation.
AAA also says that most storm damage is covered by home insurance.
