A new study by AAA shows the impact of changing the speed limit on roads.
The report studied 12 different roads and found that raising posted speed limits was associated with increased crash frequencies for two of three highways studied.
Meanwhile, lowering the speed limit resulted in less crashes. However, there were more speeding violations in those areas.
AAA also says that there was a small difference in travel times in both raised and lowered speed limit areas.
According to the latest data from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration there were over 42,000 traffic deaths last year in which speed was a factor.
