As some return home from New Year’s Eve festivities today, a national organization wants to remind motorists about the dangers of driving with a hangover.
AAA officials say that after a night of drinking, many people will wake up with alcohol still in their blood, or they will wake up tired and disoriented. The organization says that these factors can make driving with a hangover just as dangerous as driving after having a few drinks.
Officials say that the only thing that will sober someone up is time. According to AAA, it takes approximately 75-90 minutes or longer for the body to eliminate the alcohol contained in one standard-sized drink.
AAA recommends that anyone with a symptom of a hangover, including fatigue and weakness, increased sensitivity to light and sound, and dizziness, to find a safe ride home.
