Pennsylvania is making it easier for residents struggling to deal with food expenses during the ongoing pandemic to access assistance.
The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is now allowing for enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP over the phone by calling 1-866-550-4355. SNAP can help families to purchase fresh food and other groceries.
Callers will be asked to provide the same information for a SNAP application over the phone as one submitted online however this new phone capability will help those who do not have access to a computer or internet service. Applicants do not need to know if they are eligible before applying for assistance.
For more information on this program, visit the local county assistance office or the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services website.
