Nurses at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital have authorized a strike.
That now puts the decision to the union representatives who would have to give the rural hospital a 10 day notice about the strike.
According to the Post-Gazette, 94 percent of the nurses voted to strike.
The previous contract between nurses and the hospital expired in the summer. Staff recruitment and retention are the main issues in the negotiation session.
Armstrong County Memorial Hospital is a 160-bed unit located in Kittanning.
