Strong storms swept through the county Tuesday afternoon, leaving many residents in the dark and with clean up to take care of.
Trees toppled power lines in the center part of the county- specifically in Lancaster, Franklin and Center townships. Hundreds of city residents also lost power.
About 2 p.m., firefighters were sent to the Butler County Humane Society on Route 68 in Connoquenessing after it was reported the building was struck by lightning. It’s unclear if there was any damage.
