Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro was in Washington D.C. yesterday to join President Joe Biden to promote a new federal rule designed to curb so-called ghost guns.
Shapiro has been pushing for regulation for guns that people can buy online and assemble themselves.
He said he was pleased with the President’s announcement.
“Ghost guns have become the weapon of choice for criminals. They’re just too easy to get in Pennsylvania and the nation,” Shapiro said. “This loophole that exists is just costing us too many lives. The President took an important step to close that loophole.”
The new rule classifies the building blocks of ghost guns as “firearms” and bans their unlicensed production.
Shapiro says ghost guns have become a popular weapon for criminals and believes this step is important in curbing violence.
