Pennsylvania’s Attorney General says there was systematic failures by the government to protect Pennsylvanians from the effects of fracking.
Democrat Josh Shapiro released a report on his findings earlier this week.
“We can’t rely on big corporations to police themselves; after all they report to their investors and shareholders,” Shapiro said. “It’s the government’s job to set and enforce the ground rules that protect the public interest, and through multiple administrations, they failed to do that.”
The report listed eight recommendations, including requiring companies to disclose the chemicals used and developing a comprehensive study on the health of those living near fracking sites.
