Apple brands their new Air Tag as an easy way to keep track of your things. But, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro is warning that consumers should be cautious of what he calls “malicious misuse.”
The AirTag can be attached to keys or backpacks to help keep track of where your things are.
However, a Westmoreland County man recently placed an AirTag on a woman’s car to track her to her home in Apollo.
Shapiro says it’s vital for everyone to know about the AirTag, and how it can be turned into a threat.
He says there are a few warning systems to look out for…
- The AirTag will start beeping if it’s in an unfamiliar location.
- Your iPhone may get an alert saying that an “item is detected near you.”
Shapiro adds that if anyone may have found a misused Apple AirTag to call police.
