A county agency will soon partner with Veterans Affair on a new program that can help bring care to veterans.
Training will soon begin for employees within the Area Agency on Aging to visit the home veterans to help better their access to benefits.
The Veteran Directed Care Program will send trained providers to veterans’ home every three and nine months while calling every six and 12 months for updates on needed care. The program is free to the county, it will only require training for currently staffed agency employees.
There is potential that training could be made for family members or neighbors but there are restrictions in place on who can be trained.
No word on when the program will officially begin.
