Agnes “Aggie” Mercedes Rodgers Sheakley, 99, of Butler, PA, passed away on December 19, 2023, at her residence.
Born on January 29, 1924, in Donegal Township, to the late Merle Rodgers and the late Gertrude Graham Rodgers.
Aggie graduated from Butler High School. She worked for J.C. Penney’s for 27 years, retiring in 1995. Aggie was a member of All Saints Parish – St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. She served lunches at St. Paul Schools and was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. Aggie supported her six children’s interests and activities. She loved caring for her grandchildren and sewing.
Aggie is survived by one son, Fred (Karen) Sheakley of Butler, PA; four daughters, Barbara (David) Vardy of Butler, PA, Teddi (David) Herman of Mars, PA, Deborah Pazzuto of Butler, PA, Jean (Robert) Bowen of Butler, PA; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Hutchison of Pittsburgh, PA.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton E. Sheakley, who she married on November 1942, and who passed away on August 28, 1995; two sons, Ed Sheakley and Robert Sheakley; one grandson, Randy Vardy; one grandson-in-law, Eric Weimer; and her six brothers and sisters.
The family would like to express their gratitude for all the wonderful care that Teresa Wack, Sue Thompson, Amanda Wilson, and Linda Rodgers gave.
Friends will be received on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Parish – St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean St., Butler, PA, 16001 with Rev. Kevin Fazio, officiating.
